Gourmet Junction is something of an institution. The building is 145 years old and can be seen in very early photos of Lockport Street. According to local psychics, ghosts of some early residents of Plainfield still hang out there.
Current owner, Mary Ann Waldorf, has turned this small shop into a virtual cornucopia of personal accessories and specialty foods. But it is her collection of teas, tea pots and tea accessories that makes this little shop a standout.
Throughout the year, Waldorf invites local residents in for "high tea," where the pressures of daily life fade away and the elegance of a bygone era comes to life.
Mary Ann's box lunches and catering offer local businesses a healthy and nutritious alternative to the "takeout" offerings of many chain restaurants.
Custom-designed baskets round out Mary Ann's offerings. Her eye for design and knack for filling baskets with wonderful goodies make these treasures a joy to give and to receive.
